A new method
Synthetic turf consists of 5% backing, 5% fibre, 30% rubber and 60% sand. Re-Match can separate and clean all of the components for reuse in the turf industry or for selling as stand-alone products used in other production cycles.
The environmental benefits are obvious, but also from an economic perspective the Re-Match solution offers significant advantages:
- Cost of the re-cycling is less than disposal using landfilling or incineration
- Cost of the recycled material is less than virgin material – while offering the same or even improved product properties
Don’t burn or bury
While synthetic turf can demonstrate a positive environmental impact versus natural grass during its lifetime (no watering, no use of fertilisers, no mowing) – the most used forms of disposal present a significant problem to the environment:
- Incinerating an average-sized turf system emits many tonnes of CO2 and releases other toxic substances into the environment
- Landfilling leaks chemical waste into groundwater
This is why Re-Match has developed a process of true recycling, which provides the basis for full circularity of material present in synthetic turf systems.
